On 20 July 2011, Deputy Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) Major General Ryszard Sorokosz participated in the annual celebrations of 92nd anniversary of forming the Polish National Police.
The ceremony was organized by the Voivodeship Police in Szczecin and was celebrated in one of Szczecin’s Theatres "Pleciuga". Among the distinguished guests representing the uniformed services, Szczecin authorities, courts, combatants and residents of Szczecin was also the MNC NE Deputy Commander Major General Ryszard Sorokosz.
The main part of the ceremony was awarding policemen and police employees working at the Voivodeship and City Headquarters, Prevention Division and Independent Counterterrorist Department with national and departmental decorations, e.g. "Distinguished Policeman", as well as nominations for higher ranks.
The Police Day celebrated on 24 July commemorates the creation of the Polish National Police. "On that day, in 1919, the Polish Parliament enacted the law of Polish National Police the main tasks of which were ensuring security, peace and public order", said the Commanding Officer of the Westpomeranian Region Police Superintendent Wojciech Olbryś. "The time is passing and the tasks for the Police are still the same", he added. During the ceremony a pleasant atmosphere was provided by musicians from the Accordion Trio "Akademii Sztuki".
The participation of the MNC NE Deputy Commander in the celebrations of the Police Day is a visible sign that MNC NE is part of the uniformed services family in the Szczecin region.
