On 26 August 2011, Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) Lieutenant General Rainer Korff and Chancellor of the Academy of European Integration (WSIE) Professor Edward Radecki met in the auditorium of the Academy of European Integration to sign cooperation agreement.
The aim of signing the agreement is tightening relations between both institutions and creation conditions for more intensive exchange of knowledge and observations. One of the points of the cooperation foresees the assumption by the Corps Commander the honorary patronage of the subject of International Relations at WSIE. Once a year ”the Day of the Honorary Patron of the Subject” will be established. It will be combined with the presentation of the Corps’ record and activities. On the same day, a scientific seminar for the general public on the patron’s subject will be held. Additionally an MNC NE representative shall be a member of the Consultative Council of the Chancellor of the Academy of European Integration.
What is more, the Academy and the Corps will promote each other in a very visible way and both institutions shall actively cooperate on other reciprocally agreed initiatives to support scientific and educational activities.
On one hand selected representatives of the Corps having formal education qualifications shall be granted the possibility to lecture in the patron’s subject area and receive remuneration under the terms existing at the Academy and on the other hand to the extent possible and under separate terms, the Headquarters may admit International Relations students as trainees, to attend exercises, lectures or even internships under separate terms.
„Let me express my gratitude to Mr. Chancellor, Professor Radecki and his personnel for their willingness to undertake the challenge and deal with the subjects that are of interest to me, not only as a soldier, but also as a European Citizen.” - said General Korff. ”I would like to emphasize that Integration is a keyword for me and always attracks my attention not to the huge ambitious political plans, but first of all, to the initiatives of small communities. Let me mention that „integration” is also the keyword in the Corps’ motto: 'NATO Corps of the Baltic region in the spirit of integration''” – he added.
The signing of cooperation agreement between the Multinational Corps Northeast and the Academy of European Integration is first official cooperation agreement signed by Corps Commander.
