The most organised and the biggest German community in Szczecin is the military personnel of the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast. On 3rd October celebration of the German Unity Day took place in Baltic Barracks.
The event commemorated the unification of the two German states. "Oktoberfest"- is the German national folk festival that is known far beyond Germany. Szczecin Oktoberfest was held in the Baltic Barracks on 7th October. At the invitation of major general Rolf Schneider, the deputy commander MNC NE, representatives of the city and province authorities, the HQ personnel as well as friends from various institutions and companies came to Baltic Barracks. The festival began with a toast with beer from the first tapped barrel. The Military Band of the German 14th Mechanised Division from Neubrandenburg played during the event.
