Once in a while, all HQ MNC NE personnel, including the members of the Headquarters Company and the National Elements, gather to get the most updated information "to know what is what". The Staff Enhancement Training took place on December 3rd, 2008.

It was a very cold morning but everybody turned up on time. The soldiers stood in a line to adequately greet the MNC NE Commander Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral and MNC NE Chief of Staff Brigadier General Josef Heinrichs. Before the Staff Enhancement Training (SET) began, the Commander and the Chief of Staff gave each participant of the Crystal Eagle Exercise conducted in September 2008 a special coin as a token for their devotion and involvement.

Afterwards, the HQ personnel found their seats in a specially prepared room. They listened to the Commander’s Directive and Guidance with attention. It was both the assessment of the year 2008 that comes to an end, and the presentation of main efforts for the upcoming years. As the Commander said, in the passing year the greatest challenges referred to various types of Training and Exercises, the implementation of the Command and Control Information System (C2IS) Szafran, the new Headquarters Concept as well as the development of the Infrastructure Project, or more specifically a new facility which is currently being under construction.

The Commander also focused on the future depicting the main efforts for the Headquarters in the year of 2009. Among other things, he mentioned preparing and conducting the exercise Little Eagle 2009, the actual integration of Szafran in the Headquarters, the preparation process for the mission in Afghanistan, the celebration of the Corps’ 10th Anniversary as well as the change of command.

In fact, all subsequent briefings developed the Commander’s intent and provided details concerning specific events and undertakings planned for the year 2009. In particular, the Training and Exercise Directive for 2009 was discussed and elements of the mission preparation process were examined. An important point in the programme of this Staff Enhancement Training was the presentation upon the main concept, training objectives, structure and timeframes for the Little Eagle Exercise, which is going to be conducted in May 2009. Other topics raised during the training referred to the Corps’ 10th Anniversary, the integration of the Corps’ C2IS Szafran and Tasker Tracker, a system reducing paperwork at the Headquarters.
